Song of the day- Sick muse
I know a lot of things about life. Some might even say I am pretty wise about a few things. Romantic love is not one of them. And in fact I often find myself quite perplexed about something that can completely change who a person is, sometimes make them go crazy, sometimes make them give up everything, sometimes make them more depressed than words can say, make them jealous, confused, stupid, furious, selfish, blind, lose their mind...and yet perhaps it's the thing everyone wants most in the world? fascinating. There is something about it that makes all the crazy worth it. And though i understand very little on the matter, I have been planning my Valentines song for quite some time now. Perhaps not the most romantic, but quite clever. And I might just take clever over romantic, at least for now. So on this special day I hope you enjoy all the crazy in your life.
Watch out Cupid
Stuck me with a sickness
Pull your little arrows out
Let me live my life
You better watch out Cupid
Stuck me with a sickness
Pull your little arrows out
Let me live my life
The one I'd better lead
All the blondes are fantasies
And we looked at them eleven ways
You said, "Look at me". And looked away
And you wrote the song I wanna play
I'll write you harmony in C
Everybody, everybody just wanna fall in love
Everybody, everybody just wanna play the lead
Watch out Cupid
Money is a sick muse
Pull your little arrows out
And let me live my life
She said, "I'm with stupid"
Money is a sick muse
Pull your little arrows out
Let me live my life
The one I'd better lead
All the blondes are fantasies
And we looked at them eleven ways
You said, "Look at me". And looked away
And you wrote the song I wanna play
I'll write you harmony in C
Everybody, everybody just wanna fall in love
Everybody, everybody just wanna play the lead

Lift you up, every time, everyone, ooo, pulls a way
Artist- The clash at demonhead / Metric
Song of the day- Black Sheep
Reason #127 why Metric is amazing I discovered today when seeing the film dear to my geeky heart, "Scott Pilgrim vs The Universe". I immediately loved this song the most, which my friend informed me later was in fact written by Metric. If you haven't seen the movie yet / read the comics, today's song might spoil some twists or just not make sense. But just go with it's fantastic-ness. This song and movie is a lot about your past catching up with you, your past shaping you, and how the people in the past shape you and your future. It's interesting to think about all the people in your life, some still in your life, some never to be heard from again but had so much input (whether good or bad) into who you are now. What we take from other people, why we pull away from people, why people pull away from us. I could perhaps dive into this black hole of thought for hours and receive lots of emotional punches in the face...or I can just enjoy the metaphorical action punches this delightful story gives. So here's to our pasts, other peoples pasts, and all the baggage we so love to fight through. Kick it's ass and move on to the next level of awesomeness!
Hello again, friend of a friend, I knew you when
Our common goal was waiting for the world to end
Now that the truth is just a rule that you can bend
You crack the whip, shape-shift and trick the past again
Send you my love on a wire
Lift you up, every time, everyone, ooo, pulls away, ooo
From you oo oo oo
Got balls of steel, got an automobile, for a minimum wage
Got real estate, I'm buying it all up in outer space
Now that the truth is just a rule that you can bend
You crack the whip, shape-shift and trick the past again
Send you my love on a wire
Lift you up, every time, everyone, ooo, pulls a way, ooo
It's a mechanical bull, number one
You'll take a ride from anyone, everyone, wants a ride,
pulls away, ooo, from you oo oo oo oo oo oo oo

the things you could do, you won't but you might the potential you'll be, that you'll never see the promises you'll only make
Artist- Metric
Song of the day- Between the bars
Today's cover introduces you to what is my never ending love for Elliott Smith. I could write books on his guitar playing, lyrical talent, and tormented soul. And I know when I come across a good cover when it makes me notice things about a song I never had in the original. Besides being able to pull off indoor sunglasses (I shall fulfill this dream one day), there's something about Emily Haines voice that enhances Smith's words. Besides that this song reminds me why I like going drinking with people, minus the crazy hijinks, dancing, drag queens, chair bowling, and obvious downsides that can occur...people open up more. And yeah it's sad that we need alcohol to do so and I've had countless heart to hearts without it but my most favorite thing in life is knowing people, the good, the bad, the funny, the ugly, the sad, the frustrated, the beautiful, the whole person. I love how we are all so complex that we might never fully know each other and I find it kind of sad. And sadder when you see so much amazingness in people that they can't see in themselves. If I had a superpower I'd want it to be that, to take away whatever stops people from believing in themselves, that stops them from seeing every little amazing detail God put inside them specifically to make the world a better place. Cuz you do. Even if you don't don't believe it, I do. Cuz I've experienced it first hand.
drink up, baby, stay up all night
the things you could do, you won't but you might
the potential you'll be, that you'll never see
the promises you'll only make
drink up with me now and forget all about the pressure of days
do what I say and I'll make you okay and drive them away
the images stuck in your head
people you've been before that you don't want around anymore
that push and shove and won't bend to your will
I'll keep them still
drink up, baby, look at the stars
I'll kiss you again between the bars where I'm seeing you
there with your hands in the air, waiting to finally be caught
drink up one more time and I'll make you mine
keep you apart deep in my heart separate from the rest
where I like you the best and keep the things you forgot
the people you've been before that you don't want around anymore
that push and shove and won't bend to your will
I'll keep them still
