Even the lost can be appeased

Artist- He's my brother she's my sister
Song of the day- Escape tonight

Today's band has officially made my list of bands I'm dying to see live and not just because they have a tap dancer and often dress like hipster hobos. They are able to create a hip dancy sound and keep that folk authenticity they've come to be known for. Today's song's got spunk and clapping (my favorite) that somehow make me think I"m in a hall & oats music video if i'm not paying attention. And really that's what summer is all about, maybe not so much hall & oats, but to be transported, to escape. But today's song is about an even deeper escape. As the writer and lead vocalist Rachel Kolar put it, "The song is about escaping your ego and self doubt. It's about the fear we place on ourselves and how it waits and strikes upon us at moments of release and bliss. It's about where we, you and I, the human race, are going. Together we are escaping fear and stepping out of that darkness into the light where we can feel happiness freely." If you're looking for some escape tonight, this one's for you.

It's hard to know when it's complex
A straight line curves, two ends connect
But somehow we all feel so pleased
Even the lost can be appeased

Though lingering doubt waits and remains
Think of a loophole, idle for change
Ready to strike the moment just right
But you and I will escape tonight

Escape tonight
Escape tonight
You and I
Step out of the dark to see the light

Truth be told we weren't the ones
Let the void roll down your tongue
Six inches above the ground
Searching for the holy sound

Though lingering doubt came back again
Cloaked them in black, stripped the humans
Ready to strike the moment just right
But you and I will escape tonight

Escape tonight
Escape tonight
You and I
Step out of the dark to see the light

oooooooooooooooooooooo
oooooooooooooooooooooo

You and I will escape tonight
You and I will escape tonight
You and I will escape tonight
You and I will escape tonight

Escape tonight
Escape tonight
You and I
Step out of the dark to see the light
