My love a beacon in the night. My words will be your light

Artist- Ingrid Michaelson and Sara Bareilles
Song of the Day- Winter Song

I love it when artists write new Christmas songs that are actually good. And I imagine it is quite difficult, it has to sound slightly familiar or classic, have that warm spirit and well there is only so many times holly jolly and other descriptions can be incorporated. And though I don't want them dominating the radio stations and bringing me down, I do appreciate a good melancholy holiday tune. There's a lot of crazy crap going on in the world. A lot of people against other people and sometimes you have to wonder if love is still alive as you long for the arms around you that care. For all those longing arms, this one's for you. Let's liven up some love.

Bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum
bum bum bum bum bum bum
bum bum bum bum bum bum

This is my winter song to you.
The storm is coming soon,
it rolls in from the sea

My voice; a beacon in the night.
My words will be your light,
to carry you to me.

Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love

They say that things just cannot grow
beneath the winter snow,
or so I have been told.

They say were buried far,
just like a distant star
I simply cannot hold.

Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love alive?

This is my winter song.
December never felt so wrong,
cause you're not where you belong;
inside my arms.

bum bum bum bum bum bum bum bum
bum bum bum bum bum bum
bum bum bum bum bum bum

I still believe in summer days.
The seasons always change
and life will find a way.

Ill be your harvester of light
and send it out tonight
so we can start again.

Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love alive?

This is my winter song.
December never felt so wrong,
cause you're not where you belong;
inside my arms.

This is my winter song to you.
The storm is coming soon
it rolls in from the sea.

My love a beacon in the night.
My words will be your light
to carry you to me.

Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love alive?

My love's too big for you my love

Artist- Ingrid Michaelson
Song of the day- Sort of

So I've come pretty down to the wire on today/tonights/you probably won't read this till tomorrow/ blog. But it hasn't been from lack of trying. However what sometimes happens is I fall down a youtube rabbit whole and may or may not have somehow found myself spending hours looking at Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield cute clips. But somehow I was lead back to a pretty much song of the day go to aka anything Ingrid Michaelson writes. Now my love affair didn't really start with Ingrid till this song found me randomly on my ipod shuffle one day in grad school and I've been trying to find a live version of it since then, so see sometimes my rabbit holes help me.

Sure girl angst music is pretty much who I am and today's song were one of those that stopped me dead in my tracks mainly for that added hook at the end of the verse "my love's too big for you my love." And I thought oh that's my problem, or at least at the time. Coming off 5 months of being a missionary and learning to love extreme was hard to reign in that type of feeling 24/7. It was almost like word vomit, once my heart opened just a little I couldn't stop myself, which was pretty awkward for strangers in public places or me and anyone around me who knew I was used to controlling my emotions.

And though it was a hard transition back to the "real world", I look back now and miss it. And a part of me is sad that now I'm stronger and re-remembered how to avoid getting hurt by love. So for all of us who aren't stronger and who love big, keep those arms open, this one's for you.

Baby you've got the sort of hands to rip me apart
And baby you've got the sort of face to start this old heart
But your eyes are warning me this early morning
That my love's too big for you my love

Baby you've got the sort of laugh that waters me
And makes me grow tall and strong and proud and flattens me
I find you stunning, but you are running me down
My love's too big for you my love
My love's too big for you my love

And if I was stronger then I would tell you no
And if I was stronger then I will leave this show
And if I was stronger then I would up and go
But here I am and here we go again

Baby you've got the sort of eyes that tell me tales
That your sort of mouth just will not say, the truth impales
That you don't need me, but you won't leave me
My love's too big for you my love
My love's too big for you my love

And if I was stronger then I would tell you no
And if I was stronger then I will leave this show
And if I was stronger then I would up and go
But here I am and here we go again

Tell me what to do to take away the you?

And if I was stronger then I would tell you no.
And if I was stronger then I will leave this show
And if I was stronger then I would up and go
But here I am and here we go again

I want to start fresh, like a baby in a sink Scrub away all these thoughts that i think of you

Artist- Ingrid Michaelson
Song of the day- Starting Now

It seems that I can't get away from babies on the brain this quarter. I constantly study them, listen to my friends wanting them, constantly read and watch and sometimes help them come out and stay alive and it's weird and gross and scary and fantastic and painful and did I mention weird? But I can't get over the fascination of watching someone's story begin, the actual beginning and being scared for them and everything they will face in their story but also jealous of them, in my constant starting overs in life, to get a chance to actually go back to that time where you were fully ignorant and fully content and safe and didn't know all the mistakes you'd make, all the time's you'd be hurt and all the adventure ahead of you that you don't know to be afraid of yet. All that junk is what makes up life though, I'm not denying that, but it has made me appreciate the beginning more. To all your beginnings, old ones and the one's starting now, this one's for you.

I want to crawl back inside my mother's womb
I want to shut out all the lights in this room
I want to start fresh, like a baby in a sink
Scrub away all these thoughts that i think of you

So life moves slowly when you're waiting for it to boil
Feel like i watch from 6 feet under the soil
Still want to hold you and kiss behind your ears
But i re count the countless tears that i lost for you

But before you finally go there's one thing you should know: That I promise -

Starting now I'll never know your name
Starting now I'll never feel the same
Starting now I wish you never came into my world.

I want to crawl back inside my bed of sin
I want to burn the sheets that smell like your skin
Instead I'll wash them just like kitchen rags with stains
Spinning away every piece that remains of you.

But before you finally go there's one thing you should know: That I promise -

Starting now I'll never know your name
Starting now I'll never feel the same
Starting now I wish you never came into my world.

It's my world, it's not ours anymore
It's my world, it's not ours anymore

Starting now I'll never know your name
Starting now I'll never feel the same
Starting now I wish you never came into my world.

I am giving up on making passes and I am giving up on half empty glasses and I am giving up on greener grasses I am giving up

Artist- Ingrid Michaelson
Song of the day- Giving up

So sometimes or some might say all the time I over think things. And today's song kinda reminded me of my favorite past time and or being my own worst enemy. Plus it's such a dang sweet tune so please enjoy some dang sweetness

What if we stop having a ball?
What if the paint chips from the wall?
What if there's always cups in the sink?
What if I'm not what you think I am?

What if I fall further than you?
What if you dream of somebody new?
What if I never let you win, chase you with a rolling pin?
Well what if I do?

I am giving up on making passes and
I am giving up on half empty glasses and
I am giving up on greener grasses
I am giving up

What if our baby comes home after nine?
What it your eyes close before mine?
What if you lose yourself sometimes? Then I'll be the one to find you
Safe in my heart

I am giving up on making passes and
I am giving up on half empty glasses and
I am giving up on greener grasses
I am giving up

I am giving up
I am giving up
I am giving up on greener grasses

I am giving up for you
I am giving up for you
I am giving up

Have you ever thought about what protects our hearts? Just a cage of rib bones and other various parts.

Artist- Ingrid Michaelson
Song of the day- Breakable

As I study for my physical assessment test out I keep thinking of this song, mostly cuz on top of cramming for the heart, chest, lungs, and well trying to find abnormalities in the entire body it reminds me of how fragile we all are. And not so much physically but emotionally. I've had so many emotions today- not caring, frustration, panic, thankfulness, laughter, joy, relief, back to apathetic, increase stress and total freak out. Sure right now it's cuz of finals, I'd like to think I'm not usually this bipolar but to all you out there who might be feeling a bit more breakable than usual, this one's for you

Have you ever thought about what protects our hearts?
Just a cage of rib bones and other various parts.
So it's fairly simple to cut right through the mess,
And to stop the muscle that makes us confess.

And we are so fragile,
And our cracking bones make noise,
And we are just,
Breakable, breakable, breakable girls and boys.

You fasten my seatbelt because it is the law.
In your two ton death trap I finally saw.
A piece of love in your face that bathed me in regret.
Then you drove me to places I'll never forget.

And we are so fragile,
And our cracking bones make noise,
And we are just,
Breakable, breakable, breakable girls and boys.

And we are so fragile,
And our cracking bones make noise,
And we are just,
Breakable, breakable, breakable girls-
Breakable, breakable, breakable girls-
Breakable, breakable, breakable girls and boys.
