You became the light on the dark side of me.

Artist- Seal
Song of the day- Kiss from a Rose

My friend Mo emailed me the other day requesting that I write something about this fantastic song. And if any of you out there have a song you're itching for others to enjoy, or just wanna school me on good music, hit me up with an email! It's under the "Requests" icon on the side.
I'm guessing Mo's new found passion for Seal's hit had a lot to do with it's clever use on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia". If you don't know what I'm talking about you should really watch and laugh and shake your head and be ashamed of all that is the witty show. However, as a child the song meant oh so much more as it encompassed my comic book nerd love for Batman...more accurately Robin, my first crush. I didn't say I was a normal child. I can't say the song has stood the test of time. But there is something about it's campy analogy of love as a drug, Seal in a silk shirt with bat signal back lighting, and glimpses into my tom-boy past that make me sentimental. There's still a part of me who's trying to figure out how to be a superhero. But seriously, what is a kiss from a rose on the gray? Is it good? bad? a disease?
Either way, here's to all you caped crusaders out there, and those of you who seem to save my life on a daily basis. This one's for you.

There used to be a graying tower alone on the sea.
You became the light on the dark side of me.
Love remained a drug that's the high and not the pill.

But did you know,
That when it snows,
My eyes become large and,
The light that you shine can be seen.

Baby,
I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray.
...kiss from a rose on the gray.
Ooh,
The more I get of you,
Ooh...................
Stranger it feels, yeah.
And now that your rose is is in bloom.
A light hits the gloom on the gray.

There is so much a man can tell you,
..there....................woa...
So much he can say.
there's so much inside.
You remain,
you.......
My power, my pleasure, my pain, baby
To me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny.. yeah.
Won't you tell me is that healthy, baby?

But did you know,
That when it snows,
My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen.

Baby,
I've...
I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray.
been.............. kissed from a rose on the gray.
Ooh, the more I get of you
...ooh...........the..
Stranger it feels, yeah
stranger it feels, ...yeah.
Now that your rose is in bloom.
A light hits the gloom on the gray,

I've been kissed by a rose on the gray,
...I've been.......................I've...
I've been kissed by a rose
...been kissed by a rose on the gray.
I've been kissed by a rose on the gray,
...I've been.......................I've...
...And if I should fall, at all
I've been kissed by a rose
...been kissed by a rose on the gray.

There is so much a man can tell you,
..there....................woa...
So much he can say.
there's so much inside.
You remain
you.......
My power, my pleasure, my pain.
To me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny, yeah (L)
Won't you tell me is that healthy, baby.

But did you know,
That when it snows,
My eyes become large and
the light that you shine can be seen.

Baby,
I've...
I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray.
been.............. kissed from a rose on the gray.
Ooh, the more I get of you
...ooh...........the..
Stranger it feels, yeah
stranger it feels.
Now that your rose is in bloom,
A light hits the gloom on the gray.

Yes I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray
I've..........been kissed from a rose on the gray.
Ooh, the more I get of you
...ooh...........the..
Stranger it feels, yeah
stranger it feels. ...yeah.
And now that your rose is in bloom
aah-ee-aah...
A light hits the gloom on the gray
aah-ee-aah...

Now that your rose is in bloom,
A light hits the gloom on the gray.

  1. "But seriously, what is a kiss from a rose on the gray? Is it good? bad? a disease?" Allow me to explain:

Earlier, he mentions that he is a greying tower, meaning his life is gloomy and only getting darker.

But that's all changed, now that he found his true love, which he compares to a drug, like cocaine. The "snow" can be interpreted as cocaine, but instead of pinpoint pupils, his eyes become larger and he sees clearly.

The kiss from a rose on the grey is a good thing. His life was like that grey tower in the middle of the ocean. Think of the ocean as his life, and that tower was his emotions. Of all the places to be affected, the kiss hit him at his "tower."

And now, the light that she shines can be seen.
