How have you gotten by so far Without a head and no visible scar? No one knowin' who you really are They can't see

Artist- The Raconteurs
Song of the day- old enough

Of all Jack White's brilliant musical endeavours, The Raconteurs are my favorite. Especially when they lean towards the blue grassy-ness that is oh so dear to my heart. Not to mention I want to steal Brendan Benson and his tiny little guitar. But today's song also reminds me a lot about growing up and how clueless and self conscious I was till I let myself be okay with the weird, phobic, baby hands, people pleasing, artsy quack that god made me to be. Instead of spending the majority of my time pretending I knew everything and was totally "normal". Being okay in your own skin is the most adult, freeing thing we can do. And sure it might only fully happen 20% of the time, but today give your perfectionist, secretly gray haired, man feet, talking to yourself, throat smacking tics, high pitched voice, easily distracted, broad shoulders, and energy drink addicted self a pat on the back. It's what makes you you, and you're pretty awesome.

You look pretty in your fancy dress
But I detect unhappiness
You never speak so I have to guess
You're not free.

There, maybe when you're old enough
You'll realize that you're not so tough
And some days the seas get rough
And you'll see

You're too young to have it figured out
You think you know what you're talking about
You think it all will work itself out
But we'll see

When I was young I thought I knew
You probably think you know too
Do you? Well do you?
I was naive just like you I thought
I knew exactly what I wanted to do
Well, what's you gonna do?
What a fool

And how have you gotten by so far
Without a head and no visible scar?
No one knowin' who you really are
They can't see

What's you gonna do (what's you gonna do)
What's you gonna do now
What's you gonna do (what's you gonna do)
What's you gonna do now
What's you gonna do (what's you gonna do)
What's you gonna do now
What's you gonna do (what's you gonna do)
What's you gonna do now
What's you gonna do now

The only way you'll ever learn a thing
Is to admit that you know absolutely nothing
Oh nothing
Think about this carefully
You might not get another chance to speak freely
Oh freely

Maybe when you're old enough
Maybe when you're old enough
Maybe when you're old enough
You're not free
You're not free
