I have always been reluctant posting electronica or instrumental songs on my blog cuz without words I'm not sure what to say about music. Cuz I'm a fiction writing major, I really really really love wordy wordy lyrics (can't you tell my amazing writing skills firsthand? Thanks for the degree Columbia). But there is something to be said about certain artists like today's Explosion in the sky. Though I'd prefer an indie tight pant wearing, skinnier and paler than me male singing over this anthem, there is so much emotion behind these strings and drums, it really can stand on it's own. By the end of it I feel as if I've experienced and entire futuristic suspense thriller with plenty of plot twists and probable leading man walking away from an explosion ending. And really, how many songs with lyrics can offer you that? By Sunday night, after I've lived through 3 full days of sweaty drunk bodies and blasting music, I think I might plop face down on probable nasty grass and take in some instrumental jams and experience my own suspense thriller. If you're in need of the same, get ready for some explosions in the sky.
