Artist- Peter Cetera & Amy Grant
Song of the day- Next time I fall
I've gotta say that as much as I love the city of Chicago, I might just love the band Chicago even more. I don't know if any man has a more distinct singing voice than Peter Cetara and besides Don Henley in the 80's few others were milking their duet abilities than Cetera. I have a special place in my heart for this duet with Amy Grant who was the closest thing to a rockstar for many a christian kid back in the day. I really have no idea what this song is implying, if it's getting back together with an old lover, or telling an unassuming stranger you're about to fall in love with them. Nor do I understand what the video is trying to say with it's interpretive dance, Grant's windowpane angst or Cetera's bangs. But it is about learning from one's past, how heartache can teach us something about ourselves and how we're able to grow from it and declare our love to unassuming strangers...ok maybe not always the last part. But here's to a littler growth for next time, whatever or whenever next time may be for you today!
Love, like a road that never ends
How it leads me back again
To heartache
I'll never understand
Darling, I put my heart upon the shelf
'Til the moment was right
And I tell myself...
(Chorus:)
Next time I fall in love
I'll know better what to do
Next time I fall in love
Ooh, ooh, ooh
The next time I fall in love
The next time I fall in love
It will be with you
Oh, now, as I look into your eyes
Well, I wonder if it's wise
To hold you like I've wanted to before
Tonight
Ooh, I was thinking that you might
Be the one who breathes life
Into this heart of mine
(Repeat chorus)
(Bridge:)
Next time, I'm gonna follow through
And if it drives me crazy
I will know better why
The next time I try
(Repeat chorus)
Next time I fall in love
Oh, whoa, oh
Next time I fall in love
Ooh, ooh, ooh
The next time I fall in love
The next time I fall in love
It will be with you
