Oh your mouth is poison, your mouth is wine

Artist- The Civil Wars
Song of the day- Poison & Wine

There has recently been quite the revival of male and female duets in the last few years. I'm most ecstatic of course for the pairing of my musical loves Jenny Lewis and Johnathan Rice. Since I shall be seeing them in a week I thought I would ring in my ridiculous, obsessed, some might argue stalkerish excitement by celebrating some of my other fav musical pairings. My newest discovery is thanks to my Texas Friend Jennifer Ashley who I would dare say has better musical taste than me and knows immediately what I shall love. Within seconds of hearing this duo I was hooked from that twanging harmony that I love so well and have recently made the discovery that my favorite love songs are sad ones, hmmm. Either way, the truth in every contradicting word they sing stings in just the perfect way. And reminds me of the power and danger we have with every word we speak. We are built up and broken down on a daily basis by people's words and have the ability to do the same. Perhaps being a writer I'm more obsessed with this concept, but thinking about it, I couldn't get over how much my mood depends on what people say to me and perhaps why I'm consumed with the need to please people so I can keep getting the good kind of words. Granted this isn't a great characteristic but it's like that verse "reckless words pierce like a sword, but the tongue of the wise brings healing." It's a beautiful, dangerous weapon we carry, use it well...or at least harmonize when aiming to kill.

You only know what I want you to
I know everything you don't want me to
Oh your mouth is poison, your mouth is wine
Oh you think your dreams are the same as mine
Oh I don't love you but I always will
Oh I don't love you but I always will
Oh I don't love you but I always will
I always will

I wish you'd hold me when I turn my back
The less I give the more I get back
Oh your hands can heal, your hands can bruise
I don't have a choice but I still choose you
Oh I don't love you but I always will
Oh I don't love you but I always will
Oh I don't love you but I always will
Oh I don't love you but I always will
Oh I don't love you but I always will
Oh I don't love you but I always will
Oh I don't love you but I always will
I always will
I always will
I always will
I always will
I always will
