So take me down to your dance floor And I won't mind the people when they stare

Artist- Gram Parsons, Emmylou Harris
Song of the day- Song for you

The first time I ever heard this song was as a cover in a beautiful cathedral looking bar around midnight and the musician / love of my life, Johnathan Rice,  said he would buy anyone a drink who could name whose song it was. From the first chorus I knew I was in love with this haunting poetic tune, full of longing and quiet beauty that should only ever be sung at midnight in cathedral looking bars. I knew I wasn't just entranced by my Johnathan Rice adoration and wouldn't be able to musically rest till I found whose song it was. Luckily everything about today's song is memorable and when I heard Gram Parson and Emmylou Harris finally through my speakers it was like finding a lost gem that only the older and wiser before me had known. I wanted to wrap myself up in the song and call it my own, but perhaps no one answered Mr. Rice that night because the song really belonged to all of us. Or more accurately, we all need more gem of Gram Parson and Emmylou Harris in our lives. Either way, if you are looking for a song today, this one's for you.

Oh, my land is like a wild goose
Wanders all around everywhere
Trembles and it shakes till every tree is loose
It rolls the meadows and it rolls the nails
So take me down to your dance floor
And I won't mind the people when they stare
Paint a different color on your front door
And tomorrow we will still be there
Jesus built a ship to sing a song to
It sails the rivers and it sails the tide
Some of my friends don't know who they belong to
Some can't get a single thing to work inside
So take me down to your dance floor
And I won't mind the people when they stare
Paint a different color on your front door
And tomorrow we will still be there

I loved you every day and now I'm leaving
And I can see the sorrow in your eyes
I hope you know a lot more than you're believing
Just so the sun don't hurt you when you cry
Oh, take me down to your dance floor
I won't mind the people when they stare
Paint a different color on your front door
And tomorrow we may still be there
And tomorrow we may still be there
